Highway Code: The visual requirements
driving motor vehicles is subject to it, by doctors belonging to certain public facilities, the mental and physical fitness requirements. The Highway Code places clear visual indication of the requirements necessary to perform the driving task.
Article 322. - Visual Requirements (Article 119 of the Highway Code) - To obtain the confirmation of validity or the review of a driving license for motor vehicles and motor vehicles of all categories, it is necessary that the applicant possesses normal visual field and direction chromatic sufficient to distinguish the colors quickly and safely used in road signs, a night vision sufficient and binocular vision.
- To obtain or confirm the validity of a driving license for motor vehicles or vehicles in categories A and B must have a visual acuity of not less than ten tenths overall with no less than two tenths to the eye that sees less, reached by spherical lenses of any positive or negative diopter value, provided that the difference between the two lenses is not more than three diopters.
- In the case of natural visual acuity below the minimum prescribed for myopic defect in one eye and hyperopic other, correctable with spherical lenses respectively negative or positive, the difference in refraction between the two lenses can not be of equal, higher three diopters.
- In case the correction may be necessary for only one eye, the degree of refraction of the lens can not be greater than three diopters both positive and negative.
- When the base spherical lenses is associated with a cylindrical lens, the calculation of the difference of refraction must be made taking into account only the value of the spherical lens diopter base.
- In the case of natural visual acuity below the minimum prescribed for only defect of astigmatism, corrected with cylindrical lenses positive or negative, do not establish dioptric constraints, but the use of these lenses must be tolerated and effective. The
- visual acuity can be achieved with the adoption of contact lenses .
- The visual acuity achieved after implantation of artificial intraocular lenses is considered in the examination, visual acuity as natural. The
- corrections in the preceding paragraphs shall be effective and tolerated .
- If you discover or suspect the existence of an ongoing disease or a history of the visual system, associated or not to refractive errors, who is or has been the cause of impairment of the visual field, the color sense of Night vision or binocular vision, must be provided by the local medical committee, eye exams for periods not exceeding two years , the outcome of which will be attached to the renewal of driving licenses.
- If the reduction in visual acuity or other parameters ocular disease of the visual system depends on a certificate must be issued by the local medical committee which will indicate the opportunity that the validity of the license is limited to a period not exceeding two years.
can achieve or obtain confirmation of its validity, or be subjected to the review of special license Category A and B:
- a) eyed who have survived a visual acuity in the eye of no less than eight tenths reached by any correcting lenses
- b) those who have one eye visual acuity less than a tenth uncorrectable with lenses in the eye and visual acuity of not less than eight tenths reached by any correction lenses
- c) those who do not have a visual acuity equal to the minimum required for a driver's license in categories A and B, however possess visual acuity not less than eight tenths overall with a minimum of one-tenth in the eye that sees less, reached by spherical lenses of any positive or negative diopter value, provided that the difference of refraction between the two lenses is not more than three diopters
- d) those who reach the minimum visual acuity required by the letters a), b) and c) even if only with the adoption of contact lenses.
- Availing the case, the values \u200b\u200bof the dioptric lens has to be calculated as set for release, confirm and review of driving licenses in categories A and B.
- fixes in letters a), b), c) and d) of subsection 1 must be tolerated and effective.
- Those referred to in points a) and b) must have normal visual field and color sense better or just surviving in the eye, night vision and sufficient. Those referred to in letters c) and d) must meet these requirements in both eyes, and sufficient binocular vision.
- values \u200b\u200bof visual acuity of points a) b) c) of paragraph 1 of this article can also be achieved with the use of contact lenses.
