Many people ask me why you talk mainly in Southeast Asia, as if it were my obsession or fixation. and I also ask what country visit to the region.
I think it's difficult advice to give, first of all because even I must still visit most of the region. Set the trip on a sort of list or ranking for that area I think it is a wrong approach. What in the south-east Asia is often a journey "belly" and not "head" is a set of components ranging from landscape to places of spirituality in contact with people with (why not?) contraddizioni fra il mantenimento delle tradizioni e la spinta alla modernità. Sono tutti Paesi in fondo simili, ma ciascuno con proprie peculiarità: si può preferire l'uno o l'altro), di sicuro non lasciano indifferenti e difficilmente se ne resta delusi.. La scelta del posto da visitare dipende molto anche dal periodo in cui uno ci va, in Estate è preferibile una certa zona, in Inverno sono preferibili altre zone, questo perché il sud-est asiatico atmosfericamente parlando è regolato dai monsoni, che per esempio fanno preferire in Inverno la zona dell’oceano indiano ed in Estate per l’Indonesia.
In realtà, in tempi passati ,non ho mai avuto grande interesse per queste regioni, after visiting a bit 'in North America the Caribbean and North Africa, I was a bit' stopped.
In all honesty, I started to go south-east Asia for economic reasons, as the "far" cheaper and the only one that I knew that my financial resources of the time allowed me, now if I go there for a year , I miss it and go to abstinence, although over the years has changed considerably.
What remains unchanged is:
- the feeling of serenity that a mixture of landscapes and people can infuse
- the idea of \u200b\u200bbeing in a place with less risk : you must not stay the whole time thinking that they can steal something that someone can hurt that bad things can happen ... (Never lower your guard though) which in other parts of the world is not so obvious
- can afford with little luxuries that here we would never be able to grant. Prices are also up there but if you want to enjoy a 4 or 5 stars you get on with 100 €, while in Italy you should
a mortgage - compared to a flight still quite expensive, but with a large choice of carriers and the same time, competition is always the possibility of finding cheap lowest cost in all other areas of the world and living with little, if you have to be adaptable. I did not andarmi to chiudere in bettole di infimo ordine.
- uno dei mari più belli del mondo - parlo di Thailandia e Malesia, per non stare ad allargarsi alle Filippine, all’Indonesia, ecc.. E cmq posti di mare interessanti a poche ore di volo anche da Birmania, Cambogia, Laos, Vietnam (grazie ad AirAsia, una low cost eccezionale). Lo scorso anno sono stato in Malesia ,alle Perhentia nel nel mar cinese meridionale e mi guardo ripetutamente i miei filmati girati in quel mare da favola e riconosco che solo la curiosità di vedere dell'altro mi ha trattenuto dal prenotare anche per quest'anno .
Poi tanto altro, tra cui il sorriso di molta gente che con la loro semplice accoglienza ti fanno sentire il benvenuto. Gente con storie o attualità travagliatissime che in qualche modo, la tua presenza come viaggiatore indipendente, aiuta anche economicamente.
Il resto sta al viaggiatore: scegliere tra i paesaggi montani e la placida discesa del Mekong in Laos, piuttosto che la maestosità di Angkor che sembra sempre sul punto di essere nuovamente fagocitata dalla giungla (magari!), oppure la mestosa bellezza dei templi birmani immersi nella tranquilla campagna o i barcaioli del Lago Inle in equilibrio su una sola gamba mentre remano con l'altra, il tutto immerso nello scampanellio di mille campanelle mosse dal vento.
Viaggiare in questi luoghi è anche e soprattutto un viaggio dello spirito. Da assaporare con calma e a più riprese.
